Things About Me and My Blog

"It's the Little Things That Make Life BIG..."

When my boys were little I had that phrase on the wall of their nursery. I love the idea of it. Cause really, I think that's what life is all about. Not just waiting for the big things to happen but enjoying the little things along the way, taking joy in the little wonders of life.

I myself am a mother of two very special little things and soon enough hopefully a third little thing as well. And I DO enjoy making all sorts of wonderful, cute, cuddly, yummy, beautiful, funky and funny little things.

The idea for this blog came from my wonderful friend and if it's not yet clear enough it is all about the Little Things.

I hope you enjoy it... even just a little!

P.S. I will blog mainly in Finnish but I do share some main things in English as well!

A Couple of Things That Identify Me:

- I have two wonderful boys: 5-year-old Lukas and 3-year-old Noel, one year and seven months apart in age and the best pals in the whole wide world! We're expecting our third son in early March whom we could as well name Nemo for we don't seem to come into any agreement about the name...

- Arts and sports were the things in school I was always the best at. I sucked in Maths.

- I love cooking, I usually get an inspiration from somewhere and then just go by the feeling. I bought my first Martha Stewart Magazine at the age of 12 and made an upside down plum cake... I never forget that!

- I also love fashion although I'm not a total fashionista - I leave that to my darling little sister - and do love dressing up my boys accordingly.

- Knitting is my passion, I always have a thousand projects on the way...

- I also love to paint!

- I'm a total crafts person! In our wedding I had almost everything designed by me and executed by myself and my wonderful bridesmaids: the invitations, the programs, the thank you gifts and even the table arrangements of white Avalanche roses and pebble stones.

- I have the most amazing husband! He's totally committed to our family and also he always helps me whenever my projects get bigger than the amount of time I have to spend on them - I cannot tell you how many times he has been up all night tieying up little ribbons, run to the store on the last minute or cutting paper with all of the concentration he can master!

- I take pictures all the time! By the rate I'm going we soon have walls covered not only by paint but also my photography...

- When doing crafts with my kids I love giving them the freedom of letting their own imagination run wild - I don't care so much about the appearance of the finished projects whether the cuts are straight or not but of the chance for them to develope their own imagination and ability to create things...

- I LOVE party planning! Whether it's kids' birthday parties or just a small get together with friends I take as much joy in putting together the perfect colours, the perfect menu, the perfect decorations and the perfect flowers for the occasion.

- I try to develop myself towards a more sustainable style of living i.e. not consuming as much, eating ecologicly produced food, buying things pre-used and having my kids wear eco-clothes/homemade clothes... I try to do this not in a hippie way but in a way that is possible to every normal family without having to turn their life upside down or compromising on the actual quality of life... So this will be the red thread running through this blog - hopefully it'll give some inspirations to others as well! It is us who mold this world into the world in which our children will be raising their children in...
